Short answer. Powerful, playful, and insanely good for progression. Sumbawa is one of those places that surprises people. Not because it’s easy, but because it’s doable if you’re ready to step things up. The area is known for consistent swell and mostly reef breaks with clean faces and long, workable walls. Conditions range from playful shoulder high surf to solid overhead days when the swell is on. Crowds are light compared to Bali, which means more waves, more reps, and less pressure in the lineup. With proper guidance and spot selection, Sumbawa is an incredible place to build confidence on reef breaks and take your surfing to the next level.

This trip is designed mainly for shortboarders and mid length surfers. The waves in Sumbawa are reef breaks with steeper takeoffs and usually faster sections, which suit boards that can handle tighter turns and quicker positioning. Longboards can work on smaller days, but they are not ideal for most of the conditions we surf. If you’re comfortable on a mid length or shortboard and ready to build confidence on reefs, this trip is a great fit.

Many of our first-timers are concerned about this, so you are not the only one asking this question! About 80% of our guests are aged 25-55, with most in their 30s. But age is just a number to us! Everyone is welcome. We focus on surfing progression and good times. Some enjoy a drink at sunset and might go out once or twice, but it's not a party scene at all.

We understand that life can be unpredictable, so we've got you covered! If you cancel your booking at least 3 months before the trip's departure, you will receive a full refund (excluding the deposit). If you cancel between 60 and 90 days before departure, we can offer a 50% refund of the balance payment (excluding the deposit). After this period, we are unable to offer refunds, as accommodation and other services have already been paid for. However, we always encourage you to find someone to take your spot. If successful, we will fully refund your payment (including the deposit), minus a $250 administration fee. We will also do our best to help you rebook your spot, but the less notice we have, the harder it becomes to find a replacement. While we often have waiting lists, we cannot guarantee that your spot will be filled. Ultimately, it is your responsibility to find a replacement in order to receive a refund.
