WHICH IS MY SURF LEVEL?
Beginners
LEVEL 1: NEW TO SURFING
You are starting so exciting! At this point you don't know how to surf but you are keen to learn! are focus on basic surf equipment, security aspects, basic paddle tecnhique, taking off on the surfboard, learning how to surf.
Beginners with experience
LEVEL 2: PASSING THE BREAK & STANCE
You are adopting a proper stance to move weight efficently while keeping balance. You know how to paddle the board in trim, move the board in a sitting positioning, how to choose a safe place to enter the water and use safe wipe-out and dismount techniques. You are focusing now on getting comfortable on waves, learning how to do turtle rolls, standing up on white water waves & small green waves. You have experience in sand bottom beach breaks and up to 1 1/2 ft waves.
LEVEL 3: RIDING GREEN WAVES ON AN ANGLE
At this level, you are focusing on reading the waves properly, predicting peeling directions and speeds while angling the take off right or left on green waves.
You are improving your stance by accelerating and slowing down and you are able to identify surfing etiquette (drop in rule, snaking, good surfing ethics, etc).
You have experience in sand bottom beach breaks and upt to 1 1/2 ft w
Intermediate surfers
LEVEL 4: TOP & BOTTOM TURNS ON FOREHAND
Here you already know how to identify properly the rips and take advantage of them. You also know how to negotiate broken and unbroken waves using duck dice and how to choose the correct waves .
You are performing top and bottom turns on your forehand and you have experience in beach breaks and up to 3 ft waves
LEVEL 5: TURNS ON BOTH FOREHAND & BACKHAND
In this level, you are generating now more speed on the wave, improving your position and your stance as you are understanding how body weight and speed affect surfing
You have the ability to control the surfboard and link top & bottom turns on both your forehand and backhand at beach breaks in 3 ft surf.
LEVEL 6: TURNS & CUTBACKS ON BOTH FOREHAND & BACKHAND
You are now able to select appropiate waves, ride them effectively demostrating control while performing and linking intermediate level manoeuvers (bottom turn, top turn, cutback on forehand and backhand) at beach breaks in 3 ft surf.
The surfers style, flow, power and speed might not be yet fully developed.
Advanced surfers
LEVEL 7&8: FLOATERS & VERTICAL RE-ENTRIES
Customise surfboards to achieve better performance and more advanced level manoeuvres - vertical re-entry and floater, in surf up to 6ft.
LEVEL 9: TUBE RIDES
Here you have the confidence and ability to control the surfboard, with speed and power and link advanced level surfing manoeuvres in the critical part of the wave, in surf up to 6ft. You are able to do tube rides, backdoor tubes, vertical re-entries, etc.
Professional surfers
LEVEL 10. ELITE
Elite-advanced surfers are the most experienced surfers with high surfing ability, in 6ft plus waves, and experienced surfing at different breaks around the world.
