THE WAVES IN YAMBA
Just one hour south from Byron Bay you can find Yamba, one of the best little surf towns on the Australian coast with several great surf spots.
The best time to surf is from March to October for more consistent surf and smaller crowds but waves can be found throughout the year.
One of the best thing about Yamba is that we have many spots to choose from: the swells at Turners Beach (just north of Yamba lighthouse) are quite gentle. and the town’s main beach also offers gentle surf with the added benefit of an on-duty lifeguard. Then we have Pippi's & Spookie beach which are great spot for beginner to intermediate surfers, waves are soft but still strong enough to get a really good wave. But our all-time favourite ? Of course Angourie Point. It is a perfect right wave that works on most easterly swells and best with south west winds. If this spot does not work, most luckily we can find a wave also in the Back Beach, which is also a great left for all levels.
